[[ Broke Back Kuantan 断背丹 ]]

- Monday, May 5, 2008 -
It has been already 10 years since Chee and Chun last seen each other.
All these while, they've been living in great pain everyday trying to deny
the truth - the relationship that has crossed the brotherhood between
them. Today, they do not want to lie to themselves anymore, they do
not want to live in a life that are not belongs to them. So, they
decided to meet each other at the Cherating Beach at Kuantan....
(What a good cover up)

Looking into each other eyes, their blood is warming and their heart
is beating fast.
They running into each other with tears of joy and
happiness......

- Holding tight -

- Touch with gentle -

- Aaaarggghhhhh ! -

The love between them is deeper than the sea and wider than the
sky, they've finally found each other, and live.....

Happily ever after ~

[[ Support Terry Fox Run ]]

- Wednesday, September 19, 2007 -
Terry Fox is a Canadian who right leg was amputated due to bone cancer when he was 18. He was then so moved by the suffering of cancer patients, particularly children, that he decided to start his "Marathon of Hope" three years later to run from coast to coast in order to raise money for cancer research.

Unfortunately, Terry was not able to finish his run, and he died at 23 years old because of cancer. Despite the lost of Terry, his spirit is still remain until today. The Terry Fox Run is still running around the world every year to raise fund for cancer research and for all the unfortunate people outside.

The Terry Fox Run this year in KL will be held at 4th November. Venue and time yet to be announced.

For many unfortunate people in the world, the things we are having which seems ordinary may be a luxury for them, and we still complain and ask for more....

Jusco marinated beef & lamb shoulder taste just nice 很入味.

Mayonnaise potato cube 薯仔粒 turns to mayonnaise 薯仔泥 mash potato. 错有错着 It tastes quite nice with some egg mixed in it 都几受欢迎.
BBQ toasted baguettes with cooked ham taste superb! Thanks to Ah Lee for his patient and ber-skilled BBQ'ing for us.

The whole BBQ session quite relexing and fun. Everyone have the initiative and keen to help 大家挟手挟脚, the table was well arranged by the girls, tidy and in order. The BBQ fire only takes around 30 minutes, and thanks to windy weather. Lucky the meet did not turn bad this time.

Lamb shoulder & Aussie beef cube too thick. Take times to cook. Not suppose to wash it with tap water in the 1st place.

[[ Backpack gallore ]]

- Saturday, June 9, 2007 -
As some of you know, Chean, Yanny and me are planning to go KK this 19th of June, and all of us lack of a proper backpack. We have been checking around shopping malls, specialized shops, and other places since last weekend. And thanks to that Chean and Jet research spirit, they have found a shop that is always pop up among those backpackers discussion, in forums. Kedai Bag Yoon Hin (Yoon Hin Bag Store in english), at Pertama Complex. With a quote of "Wholesales of All Kind of Bags", we decided to go there and check it out.

Yoon Hin Bag Store. From left to right, Jeannie, Jet, Chean and Yanny (We took this after we got all our stuffs)

At first we only knew there were a shop in Pertama Complex, with shop lot address of G66, and the boss is a lady named Madam Sia, and there are tons of all sort Deuter bags selling there, with the cheapest price you can find s
o far in KL.

Bags and more bags!

"Holy Shit, so many bags! I dunno what I wanna get!"

Chean and Jet busy checking out the bags.

We only realized the shop name when we finally found it. Madam Sia is indeed a friendly lady, we were asking all sort of questions, playing, wearing, checking all the Deuter bags we were interested there, in the narrow and crowded shop.

Me and Chean quickly laid our hands on a Deuter bag known as Hokus Pokus upon arriving the shop. It is a hip pouch that can be converted into a near 20 liter daypack, the idea is so cool and we just can't resist the temptation to get one.

After lots of trying, testing, playings, checkings, considerations, and all other hassles you can think of, finally they bought the backpacks of their choice.

Ahhh... so tired both mentally and physically.

Chean got his Deuter Air Contact 45+10 Liter backpack, plus the Hokus Pokus.
Yanny finally own his first Deuter, the Deuter Futura 42 AC.
Got a Hokus Pokus too for me.
While Jet, has narrow down his choices to only the Deuter Quantum series and Deuter Traveller series, which he wants to buy for his HK trip on coming November.

Chean with Deuter Futura 42 AC

Check out the 'Quantum 55+10' on me.

"I've found what I want!" Chean with his victory pose.

We tried to attach the Hokus Pokus on Chean's Air Contact 45+10 as a removable daypack just like the Quantum and Traveller series, looks pretty good right?

Everyone got their bags! That's the Hokus Pokus, pouch and daypack mode!

P/S: Madam Sia even offered to help us getting other stuffs like sneakers, sport wears at the next store and other stores she knows, at a discount of 20%! Wow, what a wonderful nice lady! But bare in mind that Madam Sia only accept cash for her bags, so load your wallet with dough before you pay her a visit!

Few days later.....

Jet and Jeanie went back to find Madam Sia and bought the Deuter AirContact Pro 60+15L. It's a new model just stocked in by Madam Sia, it's not even there yet when we visited few days ago. Jet couldn't wait to share this with Chean, he said Madam Sia even agreed to change Chean's bag to another if he is not happy with it. The cheapskate Chean is seriously fluctuate by that. The day itself, the sohai greedy Chean left office earlier and went to top up his bag to AirContact Pro 50+15L, which is bigger, prettier, more features and much more fucking expensive ! - added by the Sohai Chean.

[[ Gunung Nuang - Conquered! ]]

- Monday, May 14, 2007 -
We finally made it, reaching the summit of Gunung Nuang, on Saturday, 12th of May 2007, around 2pm.

We have made it!

It was truly a memorable day, not only because now we can proudly tell everyone, we have been there, done that (OK OK, big deal, many people did that numerous time, and more even do it like twice a month, nevertheless, it was really an achievement for amateur like us), the unbearable test on our mental and physic, tormenting deep into each of them, and pushed our determination to its limit, it was the hardest thing we have done so far! And not to mention we have also made the headlines!

25 people, from our usual guy group of Chun, Yan, Chean, Yen Han, and added up the girls and their friends, with 9 more Chean's motorolan colleagues, started the long and crazy trekking journey at 7am, and for everyone to safely came back at the starting point, it was at an unbelievable time of 230am! No, there's no typo error, it's really AM we are talking about here! A total of almost 20 freaking hours of journey, which around 15 hours of trekking if excluded resting! Catch the whole story here.

The last few of us to arrive summit was around 2pm, almost 7 hours taken. At this point, you can see we were really out of schedule, night trekking was inevitable, if consider we need 7 hours more to go down. Although some of us did bring torch lights, but it was unquestionable lack of equipment for night trekking, thus, making the journey incredible harder and longer. Guess what, the most powerful torch light we have was not even a torch light, it was the camera LED of a Sony Ericsson K700i mobile phone! Really ironic.

Separated into 3 groups, we were only able to reach the starting point, the registration area, for the first group, at 930pm, second group at 11pm and the last, 230am. The big gap between the last group was due to the misunderstanding incident. But everyone arrived safe and sound, that's most important.

And why an estimated 8-10 hours trekking and hiking took us that much longer to finish? Almost 6 hours over schedule, if consider only the trekking time. Some of the reasons I can think of:

1) The group was too large.
We were jamming each other at the beginning, where everyone waiting in queue to climb up those steep and hard slopes. For every obstacle like this, it took us almost 20 minutes to get everyone up and going. And there were dozens of them along the journey!

2) Too relax at the beginning.
Everyone started at a relax pace, we took our sweet time to relax and took photos. We tried not to get our shoes wet when crossing water streams, and that really contribute a lot in our relax factor. Lack of timing sense, sense of crisis also causing us to not aware of our time schedule.

3) Stamina difference and injuries.
Everyone has different stamina, the stronger one has to wait for the weaker one. And the weaker your stamina, the most likely you will get injured. Adding the factor of bad hiking equipment, especially shoes, the weaker one becomes weaker. I can assure you that because I was one of those injured people that dragging the whole team to slow down!

4) Last but not least, all were amateurs!
No one had experience, that is none of us had reach the summit before, so we can't estimate how hard the journey, how long is needed. We just "heard" it was like this and that, and 8-10 hours need. Probably this is the main factor that causing all of the above! Assumption is the mother of all fucked-ups!

The experience of this Gunung Nuang Expedition really showed us something that beyond our imagination! And the lesson we've learned really unquestionable very valuable for any future activities, planning, and our day to day life. I'm sure all the 25 of us has just made an unforgettable chapter in our life!

Karen was exhausted & tired. Feels like fainting, pity her.

11:30pm Rescue search team arrived.

12:00am We offered whatever we could & there's nothing we can do/help. So we decided to leave & back to our home.

02:30am At last, team A arrived at the base, and they're on the major newspaper headlines for the next 2 days.

And that’s all for now, folks. Now you can visualize the extreme toughness of 16 long hours Gunung Nuang marathon expedition.

Bravo
